Frequently asked questions
Q: I don’t have any big goals, I just want to feel a bit happier in my creative work. Can coaching help?

Coaching lightens the mental loads we carry. You can appraise your creative career, explore whether where you are is where you want to be and if not what you’d like to change. In short, you don’t need to have big goals. And it will help you feel happier.

Q: Will you give your thoughts on my creative work?

Sessions are a great place for you to talk about blocks and explore plot tangles. I might make observations or ask questions about what you’re saying but our focus is on what you think about your work, I don’t offer editorial feedback.

Q: Will you give me advice?

Coaching helps guide you to your own insights. If other peoples’ advice was helpful, you might have been able to sort out what has brought you here.

Q: What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?

I’ve heard this described as therapy helping with function, and coaching – fulfilment. Coaching helps bring about change and with building paths to move forward.

Q: What if I don’t know if I need coaching or therapy?

When I talk to a prospective client with this question we work out the answer on our discovery call. I have an ethical responsibility to work only with people who are mentally robust. However, some of my clients are in therapy and find they make good progress having coaching in tandem.
